Management Accountant


Reporting to the FP&A Commercial Manager, this role is responsible for the development, production and review of management reports which provide relevant and timely information on the financial performance of Orange Square.   This includes the production and review of monthly management accounts, balance sheets, balance sheet reconciliations and statutory accounts.

This position also acts as a coach/mentor to the Assistant Management Accountant as required.  



  • Production of weekly and monthly management reports, adhering to strict deadlines
  • Timely and accurate posting of accounting transactions
  • Monthly variance analysis for P&L’s to ensure all transactions are appropriate and substantiated
  • Ownership of prepayments, accruals, direct costs and controllable costs.
  • Identification of risks and opportunities
  • Review and maintain accuracy of the booking/billing system
  • Completion and review of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Build and maintain professional business relationships with all key stakeholders, both internal and external, as appropriate.
  • Participate in business performance reviews as necessary and in the absence of the FP&A Commercial Manager.
  • Provide value-adding insight and challenge when necessary to support business decisions and improve commercial performance.
  • Explain complex financial information to Non-Finance Staff and support them with finance based queries.
  • Collaborate, communicate and work with other team members of the Finance Department to ensure departmental KPIs are achieved and offer help/support as required.
  • Collaborate with other functions within the company to ensure common goals are achieved.
  • Keep up to date with financial regulations, the fragrance/beauty industry and the competitors to Orange Square.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as required.
  • Respond appropriately to issues requiring confidentiality and/or diplomacy.
  • Interact with Auditors as required.
  • Sundry other duties as requested.


  • Candidates must be at least part qualified CIMA, ACA or ACCA (ideally finalists or even recently qualified)
  • Experience in Management Accounting
  • Experience in advising/liaising with management on commercial matters/presenting figures and recommendations to benefit the business
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and procedures
  • Proficient Advanced Excel skills (Essential: Pivots, vlookups, sumifs, index matches etc; power queries & macros will be nice to have but not essential)
  • Excellent numeracy and attention to detail
  • High level of professionalism and integrity
  • Be committed to working methodically using problem-solving skills whilst still achieving tight deadlines
  • Demonstrable experience of providing and explaining accounting information to non-finance management
  • Experience of handling confidential information and maintaining its security
  • Able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated whilst still being able to work as part of a team
  • Experience of effective use of an accounting package, eg Microsoft Dynamics, Sage
